I recently heard the word ‘Intrapreneur’ and loved it – yes I know I am easily pleased!
If its a new word to you, I am sure you will do the same as I did and take a look at what it means and what makes it different from an Entrepreneur.
The answer varies depending on which ‘definition’ you read, but essentially an Intrapreneur is someone who has the traits/characteristics of an Entrepreneur but they are working within a large organisation, which of course makes perfect sense when you have the answer.
A great example of one business model that has produced successful ‘Intrapreneurs’ is the Direct Selling world and in fact I was one of them myself. There are so many people building a business within a bigger business some of them indeed with a multi million pound turnover. Or alternatively you may be an employed Intrapreneur within an organisation of course.
So take a look here are some of the traits/characteristics I found in ‘my search’ with a few of my own thoughts added in.
- Adaptable
- Creative
- Out of the box thinker
- Ideas person
- Not afraid to fail
- They have self belief
- Driven
- They embrace new opportunities
- Love a challenge
So yes let’s hear it for all those amazing ‘Intrapreneurs’ and ‘Entrepreneurs’ out there.
